My commercial 45, which is mono, has a listed time of (5:00), but an actual time of (4:48).

I have this as the B side of "Honky Tonk Women". Was there a different flip on the 1973 reissue?

No, Hykker, that same 1969, London 910 stock # is also listed for all 1973 chart documentation that I have for this song, and "Honky Tonk Women" is on my 45's flip side, at least.

I believe the 45 version of this song starts with the acoustic guitar, correct?

i got a nice, off-center pressing of this, and it sounds sooooo bad! yes, starts with acoustic guitar... one difference(?) i noticed: the 1969 release with "honky tonk" as the "a"-side is on the blue London label (as most Stones singles were), and the 1973 release with "can't" as the "a"-side is on the orange London label...

Jrjr, your 1973 London orange stock label, stereo 45 REALLY intrigues me. All of my many experiences have been that the orange London label was used ONLY for promo 45s, although apparently yours is an exception. Also, I've never before known of ANY 1973 stereo stock 45, issued by either London itself, or one of their "associated" labels, like "Hi", "Parrot" or "MAM", either. The promo 45's for all these labels, however, were almost exclusively issued on an orange-colored label, and with most of them, by 1973, featuring mono/stereo promo 45 versions. London/Hi/Parrot/MAM were among the VERY last major labels to start issuing stock 45s in stereo. So, Jrjr, I can only draw two conclusions: 1) Perhaps London was trying to indicate a "different from the original 1969 stock 45 issue, despite using the same catalog # and same flip side", by using their promo label for a stock 45 in this case. (I only started buying all the original stock 45s in 1974, so I missed an "original 45 purchase" by a year,) and/or, 2) Perhaps London chose to "deviate from their norm" here, and issue this 45 in stereo in 1973, because "it was the Stones" and perhaps they were trying to compete with stereo 1973 45 product that Rolling Stones/Atlantic were putting out for the group. Jrjr, just making sure here, you're POSITIVE that what you own is NOT a promo 45? Does anyone else have an orange-labelled, stereo 1973 stock copy of this? If so, I'm gonna add finding an orange 1973 stock 45 of this song to my want list, jrjr, and thanks for your terrific info.

jimct: you, my friend, are truly amazing! i went back and re-checked my orange label 45, and sure enough, in small print it was: 45-910-DJ... atypically like most dj promo 45's of this era which had it blasted all over the front of the record... and, there is a star on the "honky tonk" side, so it must the the '69 release... sorry about that, i guess it's one thing you can cross off your want list, but thanks for the info and i will keep on trying to find baffling 45's... one neat thing, though, both sides are stereo; progressive for 1969...

Well, at least one exists (OK, it's from 1972). Was pretty sure I had one, just couldn't remember at first what song it was.

London stereo
