I was listening to American Top 40 (04/09/77) last night on XM Radio, and FOUR (a full 10% of the 40) are rare in their availability. I can't remember the last time this happened, and I listen to these countdowns on XM a lot. One of the four, "Disco Lucy" by the Wilton Place Street Band is shown in the database as unavailable on CD. The other three ("Spring Rain" by Silvetti, "Love in C Minor Part I" by Cerrone, and "Sometimes" by Facts of Life) aren't shown in the database, presumably because they didn't make the Cashbox Top 40.
Does anybody know if these are available on CD? If so, are the 45 versions?

"Love In 'C' Minor - Pt. I" by Cerrone is on the Varese cd "Disco Classics". Not sure if it's the 45 version (don't have it to compare). It runs 4:01, I think (the track time is 4:04). I don't know much about the other 3 songs, I'm afraid.

The Silvetti album is available on CD in Canada on the Unidisc label. The Silvetti single (with 3 versions of "Spring Rain" including the 3:00 edit) is available on CD in the U.S. on the Salsoul label.
I remember also seeing "Spring Rain" on a disco compilation CD out of Germany but I don't own the CD and I can't recall its title.

I have a Best of Cerrone cd on Hot Productions that has the 12" mix or Album version (not sure which one it is). Another rarity on the CD is the 12" mix of "Got To Have Loving" by Don Ray.

I have both the original 45 and the Varese V/A CD "Disco Classics", and I can confirm that the version on the CD is not the correct 1977 45 version.

Thanks, Ed. You are a step ahead of me in your "Love In C Minor" analysis. I hadn't yet determined that the 45 was simply faded earlier than the CD version; just that they weren't 100% identical. Great news, though, and thanks again for the helpful heads-up, sir!

I dubbed my 12" single of "Disco Lucy" to cdr, sometime in the 90s, and converted it to mp3 a couple of years ago. I'm not aware of it ever being on cd.

I've been wanting to acquire Fact of Life's "Sometimes" on CD for a while now. My research concludes the song has only been issued once in digital on an import various artist compilation called TK Deep Soul: Deep Down in Florida (Sequel NEM721). The CD is out-of print so if you're interested in a copy, you can currently snag one on Amazon for a little over $25. (I've been holding out for a less expensive copy.)
