My commercial 45, confirmed as the Buddah 507 hit release, has both a listed and actual time of (2:59). I only post this info because current database information implies that the actual length of the commercial 45 is between (3:16) and (3:18). Pat, perhaps a second commercial 45 was issued for this song? My 45's deadwax info is "BDAS 507A".

Does anybody have more information on this song? The database states the
45 runs 2:59 and the LP runs 3:54, but the vast majority of CD appearances--
and there are a ton of them-- run between 3:16 and like 3:30, nowhere near
either the 45 or LP times. Are these all neither versions or is there another
version in existence?

Flashing back 5 years to JL328's question about the vast
amount of length differences of the different entries in the
database. Jim's 45 is 2:59 and the LP runs 3:54. Is the 45 an
edit or is this a length difference?

Interesting history on this one....it was first recorded as "Scrub-Board", an
instrumental b-side to 1972 45 "Sixty Minute Man" on Buddah 321 (2:20),
then issued as a different edit on 1975 LP "The Legendary Zing Album"
(3:09) along with "Hold Back The Night" which included vocals on the track
(3:54), issued as a 2:59 45 fade (running a bit faster than the LP).
Using this original US 45 playing https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=iaUnTQ7VPA8 as a reference (itself running a bit fast I believe), I
recreated the 45 from the Rhino "Best Of" faded early LP version. Note that
the UK version appears to run 2:12 https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=QD3xAZ9PguY. Sadly, I do not have the LP version from CD - only vinyl.
