This song runs over a minute longer than the 45 on both of those two CDs. I believe the answer to the question is no it has yet to appear on CD on a US release.

Santi, I am pretty sure the correct 45 version has never appeared on
any CD, including imports. The import version of Design contains an
edit of the LP version, which has a slightly different echo at the end.

It actually has appeared on a couple V/A imports from
the mid-'80s, though they "help" the faded echo along at
the end, so it dumps a little early, which I hate.

Aaron, I haven't compared the 45, but I believe this
version on the import I own is actually a different mix
from the album version. I tried to "loop" the ending to
recreate the full fade, which entailed adding increasing
amounts of low-level hiss with each loop, with preeetty
good results. But also, the EQ is a bit dull on this CD
and I've had the damndest time getting it to sound good
and punchy.

Brian, nice detective work on finding the 45 version on an old import CD. I do see a couple different V/A discs on Discogs that have it listed.

I just dug out my 45 and dubbed it. Doing an A/B comparison with the Control LP version, there are a couple very minor mix differences other than the ending. At 0:06.8 on the 45, there is an "uhhh" vocal ad lib that repeats twice. On the LP, it only happens once in this same spot (at 0:24). Also, at 0:54 of the 45, the word "night" does not echo, but it does on the LP (at 1:11). Finally, at 3:06 of the LP, just after the repeated synth notes, there is an additional sound in the left channel just before the next beat. This additional sound is missing from the 45.

Other than those very small differences and the ending, I cannot detect any other mix differences throughout the rest of the song.

Does the video version have the correct 45?

The video sounds like it has the correct 45 version, but the sound
leaves a lot to be desired. I cleaned up a 45 dub from a mint US 45,
and I sent it to Brian. He asked me which CD I used to create my edit!
The 45 sounds great, but be warned that at least some are styrene. A
few plays and it's bound to sound fuzzy. Mine just happened to be
unplayed.
