My commercial 45, confirmed as S.P.Q.R. 3300, has a listed time of (2:33) and an actual time of (2:34). I only post this info becuase the three current database CDs that include this song all run :18 seconds longer, at (2:52). Is the 45 an early fade, perhaps?

Bumping this up for JL328, who'd just created a second thread for the
song. This original 2009 post is where Pat got his actual (2:34) timing info
from. Back then, I asked the same question that JL328 just re-asked here.

Since no one else ever replied, I just did so, although many on the board
are far better than I am at this type of analysis. Luckily, this one was
pretty straightforward. I pulled out my Rhino "Best Of Jimmy Soul" CD.
While my 45 starts with the cold vocal, "All right, I say...", the CD version
instead has a brief, approximately :02 1/2 second music intro to start.
Other than that, the 45 version is simply an early fade of the CD version,
starting with the female background vocalists' third end sing of "Matilda".
To create the 45 version, just cue past the music intro, and start the fade
where indicated above, to (2:34).

Well Jim I pulled out my 45 of Twistin' Matilda, SPQR 3300, matrix number delta 41190-X and FG 24002 and the 2.5 second instrumental introduction is exactly as found on all 3 cd's in the database (total running time is (2:35) not (2:33) as stated on the label). Then I pulled out my album "If You Wanna Be Happy" SPQR 16001 and the Twistin' Matilda track is identical to the 45 with the instrumental introduction running (2:35). So I guess we have another case of their being two different 45 pressings of this song.
