it looks like the cd below
(S) (4:00) Sire 26760 Sand In The Vaseline
clips off the beginning 0:02 of the song....i need to locate the 4:02 version from the cd below
(S) (4:02) Sire 23883 Speaking In Tongues
to see if it matches the vinyl 45 properly...

thanks to john, who was kind enough to send me a wave file of the song from the cd "speaking in tongues, i can report that the vinyl 45 matches the "speaking in tongues" cd version precisely, except you'll need to fade the outro by 0:02 to come up with the exact proper 45 version running 4:00 and NOT 4:02........and, as i suspected, the cd "sand in the vaseline", clips the intro by 0:02....in addition the 45 states a run time as 4:00 and does indeed run that length........this should be noted in the db.....

Was there a radio / promo version that faded early, like this video?
Talking Heads - Burning Down The House (3:22)

Nope. If there was, Gene, we would've already uncovered it on here, years
ago. I have long had all of the hit promo 45s produced in the 80s in my
personal collection. And the "fine tooth comb" was already applied to
them. Both the mono and stereo sides of my promo 45 copy, confirmed as
Sire 29565, have a listed and actual time of (4:00).
We also got in a 45RPM, promo 12" single for it in 1983 (PRO-A-2057).
The same, L & A (4:00) version appears on side A, with two other tracks,
"Pull Up The Roots" and "Slippery People" (Cassette Version) found on the
B-side.
There were numerous unique video versions of songs back then, where a
comparable vinyl version was never made. Perhaps this was one of these
cases.
Finally, I just browsed Discogs for you. Numerous foreign 45/12" single
releases are shown for the song; most with timing documentation. And
none of them state a "Burning Down The House" listed timing of less than
(4:00).

Even that video seems way shorter than the official video I remember seeing on MTV back in the day. IIRC, the "face on the road" ending lasts nearly a full minute.

Spot-on, Paul. 52 seconds, to be exact - at least in this version of the video I found: "Burning Down the House" video (3:45) (still 15-17 seconds shorter than the 45 & LP versions, though...)

Interesting, guys... thanks for letting me know I won't need to fade the LP version early.
I always appreciate your help!
