my commercial 45 issued as elektra 69412 states a run time on the label as 4:26 and does indeed run that length and is an edit of the full length 4:56 cd/lp version....this 45 run time data s/b added to the db...

My notes on this song are pretty terse, but here's what you need to recreate the 45 edit from the Tracy Chapman CD:
Keep 0:00.0-3:52.7 and 4:22.3-4:56.8 (end).

I've always thought the best part of "Fast Car" is the chorus and have long wondered why it wasn't sung more often throughout the song. For kicks, I created my own version where I edited out some of the verses to help move the song along faster and looped the chorus toward the end to create more of a final crescendo. I actually like my homemade version better.
