I have a 2:58 version of "No Letting Go" on my Promo Only series. It's just an early fade of the full-length version, and it fades very quickly from 2:53 to 2:58.
What's interesting is that Promo Only issued the full length version on at least two other discs before releasing the shorter version. Is there some sort of CHR edit that was released?

Aaron, it seems to me this was initially a 2003, small-label release, that Atlantic picked up for national distribution. The first "promo CD single" (I guess you can call it that) was very "handmade" - simply a store-bought Memorex blank CD-R, with two stickers placed on the top of the disc: "a VP Records: Miles Ahead In Reggae Music" decal on top, with a generically-typed label, stating "Wayne Wonder" and "No Letting Go", with "VP Records" then typed in red. There is no listed time, but its actual time is (3:22). Then, a second copy of the title/artist label was actually stuck to the side of the jewel case (never saw that done, either before or since!) Finally, a "Don't Think Twice" sticker was affixed to the back of the jewel case, which also included the full mailing address for "Media, Inc.", who were apparently working the song early on. Now here is my Atlantic promo CD single info (which does also reference VP Records, on a corner of this promo):
-Wayne Wonder-"No Letting Go" (PRCD 301063)
1-Album Version (listed & actual 2:59) (is this description a mistake? Was the actual album version the longer length that appeared on those two Promo Only discs that Aaron owns?)
FYI, I was never aware of the longer version contained on this earlier Memorex CD-R until your post, so thanks, as it was always a personal fave of mine. (And that quick, harsh fade did always sound like an absolute train wreck to me as well!) Aaron, if you need me to shoot either version out to you for further evaluation, just let me know.

Jim, since you have your promo CD pulled, if you wouldn't mind sending over a copy, I'd like to compare the mastering differences between my Promo Only CD and the official Atlantic single. My copy comes from a lossy, mp3-sounding source. By contrast, the longer 3:22 version does not have this problem. I'm wondering if Atlantic actually used an mp3 to master that promo disc.

By the way, this was also always a personal favorite of mine, too.

Thanks to Jim, I was able to confirm that the official Atlantic promo contains a poor quality source, just like my Promo Only CD. Lots of compression artifacts and there are no frequencies above 15kHz. By contrast, the longer version doesn't have any issues.
Jim, I will re-create the short version in full quality and send it back to you!

I'm 99% certain that Wayne Wonder's "No Letting Go" was issued as a commercial CD single back in 2003 and billed as the "album version". Does anyone have a copy who could report the song's run time and comment on the sound quality?

Apparently VP Records did issue a more official promo CD single for "No Letting Go," and I just obtained a copy today. It's a factory pressed disc that says "PROMO 75" on the left side of the label. There is also another number below the VP Records logo which is "VP1661." The matrix number on the disc says "VP PROMO 75."
In any case, it's the longer version and runs 3:23 on this copy. There is no printed time.

In addition to the above there is also a promo PRCD-301153 with 3 cuts. It is titled "No Letting Go (Remix) Featuring LL Cool J and Dutchess.
1. Radio Mix 3:16 listed
2. Club Mix 3:29 listed
3. Instrumental 3:45
This has an VP Records/Atlantic red arrow on white background insert.
