There's no question as to which version is the single version; however, I'm wondering which version received most of the airplay. My top 40 station always played cut 2, the "Rapino Brothers Radio Edit" from the promo CD single. It was one of those rare instances where we decided not to play the lead cut. My TM Century library also includes this version, which leads me to believe that it might have received more airplay than the Original Radio Version. Anyone recall?

My memory is hazy on this one, but I think I recall hearing a shorter version of "Rhythm of the Night" on Top 40 stations in the Seattle/Tacoma area while I was attending college. Does the "Rapino Brothers Radio Edit" sound like a straight edit of the single version? If so, then this shorter edit may indeed have been the one I heard.

No, it's a remixed version.

I believe track 2 on the promo was the hit in Tucson, where I was at the time.

Then it must've been the single version that got the lion's share of airplay in my area. Most '90s dance songs had multiple remixes played at radio, but I don't remember any of them offhand for "Rhythm of the Night".

My station would occasionally play the Original Radio Version, too. The Rapino Brothers remix still retained much of the original version, but beefed up the drum track and added some piano. In my opinion, it was a much better mix.

For what's it's worth, our station exclusively played the "Original Radio Version - UK Edit" on-air as a current.

Good to know, Jim! I'm guessing it was probably a pretty even split between the two versions, as far as airplay goes.
