My commercial 45, confirmed as Mercury 72180 with machine-stamped deadwax info of "YW 29117 4", has a listed time of (2:13), but an actual time of (2:08).

my commercial 45 issued as mercury 72180 lists a run time
on the label as 2:13 but actually only runs 1:58....it has
'YW 29117 5' machine stamped in the run out groove......if
you fade the rhino 'best of' cd version for 0:12 from 1:46
to 1:58 you can effectively re-create my vinyl 45
version.....looks like there are two different versions of
this 45 commercial issued....can anyone else post their
vinyl 45 info so we can get an idea of which version
appears
more often....

Jim, your pressing (according to my notes) should be an alternate mix, sounding like it is missing one channel of the stereo mix, but in mono. Ed's pressing is the more common hit mix (which is also how my promo 45 has it).

I appreciate that info, Tom. Gotta get me the more common 45 pressing, as
this one happens to be one of my personal faves by her.....

Today, I was listening to a 45 playing on YouTube and
comparing it with the stereo versions. Even if you fold the
stereo to mono, the vocals on the 45 are dry compared with
the stereo versions which are drowning in echo.

A CD compilation of Lesley Gore's hit mixes is long overdue.

Can anyone confirm what I believe is correct?
'Golden Hits Of Lesley Gore' contains mainly Dennis
Drake *remixes* of Lesley's hits.
'It's My Party The Mercury Anthology' contains mainly
original stereo LP mixes'
'Best Of Lesley Gore Sunshine Lollipops & Rainbows' on
Rhino contains mostly original stereo LP mixes + a
version of "California Nights" WITHOUT Haeco-CSG
processing.
Any comments welcome!
Andy

I would love to see a mono only release of all the Lesley
Gore hits.

Yes to singles only for Lesley. I am pretty sure "You
Don't Own Me' has vocal differences between the stereo LP
and 45 mono mixes. Do not remember the details.
I am still hoping for a Johnny Rivers set.
But I fear the mono ship has sailed.

C J, I have it that the original 45 and LP feature a double-tracked vocal
whereas an alternate version features a single-tracked vocal and appeared on
her 1965 (mono) "Golden Greats" LP.

OK DCL - thanks for those details. Happy to know the
stereo LP and original mono 45s share the double vocals.

There's a 2016 import from Universal Japan that gathers the mono and stereo tracks of Lesley Gore's "California Nights" album (alongside two stereo bonus tracks) so I wouldn't say that the ship has sailed for reissue of the Lesley's mono mixes.
