the 45 runs slow while the all cd versions are sped up..........the cd versions all run 2:50 while the 45 actually runs 2:58..........the 45's face states the run time as 2:40 which is incorrect....so for some reason the 45 is considerable slower.......both cd versions and 45 version are mono

Just wanted to confirm to Pat that indeed the RR copy of "Close To Cathy" runs 2:58, just like Ed's.

Has anyone come across a CD release of "Close to Cathy" that consists of the 45 length and speed (such as on an import label like Ace Records)?

Well, it's only on one Ace comp, and according to All Music Guide it runs 2:56. But they list some of the others that we know are 2:52 as running 2:54.
If it's just a matter of speed, it would be incredibly easy to slow it down in an audio editor.

i just slowed down the cd version i on the import cd 'best
of united artist records' issued as stardust cd-
1001.....just a note....the version on this cd is a vinyl
dub running 2:50...if you adjust the bpm to 82 bpm you be
able to re-create the vinyl 45 version....
