Here's one for vinyl aficionados. On another board that just recently opened about oldies (moderated by Bob Shannon, who did afternoons at legendary WCBS-FM before the format was hi-jacked), there was discussion about "Dawn (Go Away)" by the Four Seasons. Were there two 45 versions of this song (one with a sung intro that said, "pretty as a summer morn'" and another with that begins with drums which is then immediately followed by the word "Dawn")? Or was one a single version and another an LP version (or an alternate take)?

The version that starts out with the drums without the sung intro is the stereo album version, im not sure if the mono album version was the same but i would assume not. The true 45 version has never been released in stereo as it had some vocal overdubs that the stereo mix never had.

Our commercial copy of "Dawn (Go Away)" by The Four Seasons (Phillips 40166) states a time of (2:11), but actually runs (2:45).
