The version I have of this song seems to have vinyl noise or some kind of distortion mixed into both verses. Are there any mixes of this song without the vinyl noises? I'm wondering if my CD has digital corruption (although I doubt it would just show up in the verses.) Is there a single mix vs. album mix that doesn't have all this annoying background record noise in the verses?

It's on my copy of the album and on my original iTunes-plus
stand-alone single, which is identical to the album
version, so it's definitely a sound effect that's part of
the song -- there's nothing wrong with your CD. Not sure
if there were any remixes or not.
