Since this subject has come up with other songs, I've
noticed in stereo copies of this song a bumped microphone
or some sort of a click in the opening notes.
I found a mono 45 dub online and there's no thump or click
in the beginning notes.
Anyone else notice?

If you listen to the cut on Capitol's "Collectors Series" (7777-96430-2) there is about 1 minute of studio banter. Apparently Al's mic wasn't working and there are two false starts. They fixed the problem on the third. That may explain the bump. He didn't sound very happy about it.

Makes me wonder if the mic 'bump' was edited out of the 45,
or if the 45 was yet another take or a combination of other
takes.
