sorry I know this is not a Top 40 hit, but I have two versions of the track.
One runs about 3:01 and begins with a bass/drums beat and banjo. The
other runs about 3:12 and starts with a flute-like instrument playing a
melody with backing. Perhaps a 45/LP difference - maybe he re-recorded
the track for the "It Never Rains In Southern California" LP? anyone know?

My copy of this single, Mums 6009 is a promo, and has the
bass/drums/banjo version with a listed and actual time of
2:43. I don't have the album. Not familiar with the
flute version.

Ditto for both the Mums 6009 commercial 45 and the Mums Golden Oldies 6251 reissue 45.

thanks, guys. I think I have found the source of the flutes version. Seems he
re-recorded it in 1975 for his "99 Miles from L.A." LP.
Hykker, do you know if your 45 simply is an early fade of the longer LP
length?

David: yes, it's just an earlier fade.
