I just received a new CD I ordered from Time-Life that has several hard-to-find 45 versions of 80s hits. The CD is called "Another Lost Decade: The 80s Hard To Find Hits". Here's the track listing:

1. When Smokey Sings (7" version) - ABC
2. The Honeythief - Hipsway
3. Heaven Help Me - Deon Estus
4. Method Of Modern Love (single version) - Hall & Oates
5. Lay Your Hands On Me (US single version) - Thompson Twins
6. The Flame (remix) - Arcadia
7. No More "I Love You's" - The Lover Speaks
8. Deeper and Deeper (short version) - The Fixx
9. 10-9-8 - Face To Face
10. Downtown - One 2 Many
11. Strange But True - Times Two
12. Sugar Free - Wa Wa Nee
13. Out of Mind Out of Sight - The Models
14. Whirly Girl - Oxo
15. I Can't Break Away - Big Pig

I'm not familiar with all the songs, but was able to verify the following:
- Method Of Modern Love is the 45 edit
- Lay Your Hands On Me: it's good to finally have the 45 version on CD. It has a cold piano intro and cannot be recreated from the LP version.
- 10-9-8: it's the LP version, but can be easily edited to the 45 version, there's just one small edit of a few seconds
- Strange But True: neither the 45 or LP version, perhaps this is the 12" version
- Downtown: I already had this one on CD, but it has definitely been hard to find up until now

This CD is definitely worth getting if you're interested in the above songs. I believe it's only available from the Time-Life website.

Roscoe, you are correct that "Lay Your Hands On Me" cannot be edited from the LP version; however, you can successfully re-create the 45 by using the "extended mix" found on Greatest Mixes and the LP version. The 45 uses the extended version all the way up until the last 20 or 30 seconds...then switches to the LP version

Roscoe, I have a friend who's been looking for the 45 remix of Arcadia's "The Flame" FOREVER. What's the running time on that track?

It runs 4:07. The liner notes say "The Flame, which here makes its CD debut in the remixed single version."

Roscoe:

Sounds like a great CD find! Could you tell me what's the run time of Wa Wa Nee's "Sugar Free"? I'm interested to know if it's the 45 or LP length.

Thank you, Roscoe! That would be the 45 length!

Incidentally, this CD can be ordered at any retail website. It looks like the official release date isn't until February 28 though.
