Good news for Top 40 collectors who've been looking to pick up the 45 version of Los Lobos' "Come on, Let's Go" on CD, which up to this point could only be obtained by purchasing the band's expensive El Cancionero Mas Y Mas box set. It's my understanding the 45 version has recently surfaced on a new Rhino single-disc greatest hits package called Wolf Tracks: The Best of Los Lobos on Warner Brothers/Rhino 73294.

question, what is the difference between the longer 45 version and the shorter soundtrack LP version?

I see this new CD on the download sites (like iTunes, Naptster) however it shows the song as the shorter 2:00. I wonder if this is an error, or they did put the LP version on the download site even though the 45 version is on the actual CD (they did that for the new Peter, Paul & Mary CD with "If I Had A Hammer").

The longer 45 version has an extra chorus starting at about the 1:45
mark; otherwise the mixes are the same.

Before purchasing the Wolf Tracks: The Best of Los Lobos CD, I decided to download "Come On, Let's Go" from I-Tunes just to make sure the audio levels and quality isn't overcompressed and distorted like on so many CDs released these days (if so, I'm not going to waste my money buying the CD). Well, turns out my download runs 1:59 and appears to be identical to the soundtrack LP version. I checked the Music Giants website and it shows a similar 2:02 run time for the song on the Wolf Tracks: Best of disc.

Pat, can you please double-check your CD pressing and verify if the 2:10 45 version of "Come On, Let's Go" really does appear on this disc?

I can confirm for you that the actual CD does indeed contain the true 45 version, unlike the LP version that is posted on iTunes and MGN. Don't know why the download version would be different than the CD, but in this case it is.
