Has anyone tried to recreate the 45 edit of "Margaritaville"? On the face of it, this appeared to be an easy edit, but I found there's a slight mix difference at the first edit point (which occurs somewhere between the 2:07 and 2:10 mark - this is the edit the deletes the instrumental break).
After the line "Hell it could be my fault", I can't match up the little instrumental hook with the way it is on the 45. On that particular riff, the 45 version has the marimba but no shakers. Neither of the potential edit points in the LP version have that combination of instrumentation. I tried to stitch it together anyway, and it just doesn't sound right.
Has anyone had any luck with this one?

I was able to recreate the 45 edit with no alterations. I'll check for what you say is remixed.

My 45 is WAY sped up compared to the LP version. Have you noticed the same?

I believe that's is correct--the 45 is much faster than the LP (plus the two edits). I hadn't noticed anything remixed, just from recalling the sound of the 45 in my head.
Where exactly is the second edit? I put it at the final "woman", but it could be anywhere along that final chorus.

Doug I'm almost positive the final edit is on "woman to blame" as you noted.

I don't think so. I also did a 45 version of it and have the 45. I'll have to check exactly where it falls, but it isn't there. It was tricky, as I recall.

Man, my edit was so good that I can't even figure out what I did! I can't find it!

This was one I've been wanting to do for awhile. I made the
2 edits, pitched my Beaches version up about 2.5% and added a bit of compression, as the 45 dub I heard was more compressed than the LP.

And John was kind enough to forward a copy to me, which I thank him immensely for.
John, where exactly did you end up making the edits?

Keep 00:00 - 02:09.86
Remove 02:09.86 - 02:40.613
Keep 02:40.613 - 03:33.573
Remove 03:33.573 - 3:48.973
Keep 03:48.973 to end
Pitch up about 2.5%, add a bit of compression if you'd like. Resulting edit runs 3:17.

Comments like this are so helpful. It didn't take more than a minute to get the single edit! Thanks :)

Thanks for the edit points and the pitch increase. This one was harder to
edit
than others. The first edit took me the most time. I still think I could have
gotten it better....but oh well....lol......The last edit was easy. And mine does
run 3:17.
