The original release of Dan Fogelberg's Greatest Hits (copyright 1982) sounds great, and is still my go-to Fogelberg disc. If it had "The Language Of Love" (from 1984, after GH was released), it would be all the Fogelberg I need. It's cheap, too.
Here are editing for creating the 45 edit of "Heart Hotels" from the LP version on Greatest Hits:
Segment 1:
Extends from 0:00.0 to 1:06.4 of both the 45 edit and the LP version.
Ends on a bass drum/crash cymbal, but between beats.
Remove the 16 beats from 1:06.4 to 1:16.2 of the LP version.
Segment 2:
Extends from 1:06.4 to 2:54.7 of the 45 edit.
Extends from 1:16.2 to 3:04.5 of the LP version.
Ends on a downbeat.
Remove the 16 beats from 3:04.5 to 3:14.3 of the LP version.
Segment 3:
Extends from 2:54.7 to 3:19.2 of the 45 edit.
Extends from 3:14.3 to 3:38.8 of the LP version.
Add a fade:
24 beats long
Extends from 3:04.5 to 3:19.2 of the 45 edit.
Extends from 3:24.0 to 3:38.8 of the LP version.
Your mixdown will run 3:19, with edits at 1:06.4 and 2:54.7.
