Hey all,
If anyone knows there Frank Zappa, I'm wondering--back in 82, he released a cassette only EP called "Strictly Halloween." Does anyone know if these "horror" tracks were collected from other albums or if they were ever released as bonus tracks on any CD? Thanks in advance.

Daniel, here's what I know about "Strictly Halloween". It was released in
1995, not 1982. It was a promo-only, 3-track cassette EP. The songs on it
(Cosmik Debris, My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama, Transylvania Boogie)
repeated on both sides of Rykodisc 40500, which was fairly normal for
labels to do for cassettes back then.
(FYI, there is currently a "Strictly Halloween" cassette, which looks still
sealed, offered on Gemm for $49.99, if obtaining that original source is of
any interest to you.)
My understanding was that this EP's existence was to help market/support
Zappa's 1995 "pseudo-greatest hits" CD, "Strictly Commercial". The weird
part here was that only the first two tracks on "Strictly Halloween" were
actually included on the "Strictly Commercial" CD, which I own.
"Transylvania Boogie" was not, but the track from his 1970's "Chumba's
Revenge" LP was so clearly Halloween-themed, how could the promo EP
not include it? So they did. That being said, "Chumba's Revenge" is the
only CD source for "Transylvania Boogie" that I currently know of.
As I said, the other two tracks on the EP do also appear on the "Strictly
Commercial" CD. Additionally, "Cosmik Debris" first appeared on his 1974
album, "Apostrophe", while "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama" first
appeared on 1970's "Weasels Ripped My Flesh", as by The Mothers Of
Invention. Therefore, these two tracks can obviously also be found on
those CDs.
Hope this helps!

That's awesome. Thanks, jimct. Good to know all the tracks are available on CD. My confusion over the year was because I thought Zomby Woof was part of that EP and that track came out in 82 I believe. But I tracked that song down on a 3 inch CD already.
