Hi folks.

So last night I saw Billy Joel in concert for the first time (at Wrigley Field). He was awesome. So this led me to look at my Billy Joel collection and fill
in a few missing holes. And one thing I noticed was I don't have the correct 1981 45 version of "Say Goodbye To Hollywood." I do have the "Greatest Hits I &
II" version, but there's too much applause at the beginning and the fade out is too soon.

Can the 45 successfully be extracted from the LP?

(And I thought there was a thread on this, but I couldn't find it.)

I recently read online that the first CD edition of "GH I &
II" contained the studio, not the live, version of "Say
Goodbye To Hollywood" which was the hit version. Is this
true? I'm referring to the version in the "chubby" two CD
case which had the 45 edits included, not later editions
which featured the album tracks instead.

Appreciate any insight!

First editions of Billy's Greatest Hits I & II include the
live "hit" version, but this 45 edit has more applause on
the intro and fades three seconds early. The slim case
second edition has the "non-hit" studio LP version from the
Turnstiles album.
