Little Richard
Press Release
Craft Recordings is issuing an expanded, two-disc edition of Here's Little
Richard, coming November 3rd. I have a pre-release copy of this and am
currently writing a review for my website (iconfetch.com). Although the sound
quality is good - I noticed something odd.
The master takes of the album's 12 original songs all contain echo, while the
alternates do not.
I've always heard these tracks in their pure (dry) form. Then, I went back to my
original "stereo" copy of the album on Specialty, and it also has echo, to give it
a stereo effect.
Thoughts, anyone? It just seems odd in 2017 that anyone would be adding
echo to a mono recording. That was often done in the early days of CDs, but
had largely disappeared.

I have my dad's Regency Pressing, and better conditioned Regency pressing, and some digi-remaster from 1991. The old dryer Regency mono pressings are superlative.
