In the database, there are notations for "censored" and "uncensored" versions of "Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang" by Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Doggy Dogg. I've mentioned this in other threads, and it should be noted that some of Death Row's "censored" releases featured newly edited versions that hadn't been previously released. For these tracks, they simply reversed the objectionable words and phrases, and it's quite annoying.
Now, for "Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang," there are several CDs that have the true censored version, which has alternate lyrics. On the other CDs (namely, those released by Death Row in the late 90s and early 2000s), the "censored" version simply uses the LP mix (and vocal take) and reverses the curse words.
How do we distinguish which CDs have which version? Was there a "45 version" for the song? The "radio mix" with alternate lyrics fades out at the end, whereas the LP version ends cold and segues into the next track on The Chronic.
There are other Dr. Dre tracks that could use clarification:
"Dre Day" - my import CD single has the "radio mix" with alternate lyrics; this is also the version on the US promo single
"Let Me Ride" - my import CD single has the "radio mix" with alternate lyrics; this is also the version on the US promo single

my cassingle for the song "dre day" issued as death row 53827 contains, as the A-side, the "radio mix" which runs 4:52....this should be noted in the db...

Well, even the radio mix does contain some quasi-objectionable phrases; however, it's not nearly as explicit as the album version. (Words left in the radio mix include "dyke," "ass," and "sac on your tonsils.")
