I think nobody mentioned here, there is a UK compilation
"Everything is gonna be alright, 50 years of Westbound
records Soul & Funk" released on CD last November, which
includes Devil's gun single version (3:18), a #37 BB hit
plus a few others Top 100 hits all in its short 45
version.

On that recent CD track 12 is "Funky Worm" by the Ohio Players. Is that the LP version or the 45 version? I believe the intro on the two versions are not identical.

No, it seems to be different, somebody posted the actual
45 on youtube and I was able to check it out.
Instrumental intro is a few seconds longer in the 45.
Sorry I'm not very technical about this. This version
matches the ones included in two other UK compilations I
have(a best of Ohio Players - on Westbound - and one by
the name of Soul years 1973 on the Knight label).
Devil's gun however is identical to the one on the 45 I
have.
