The LP version of "Tell Her About It" in the LP An
Innocent Man runs 3:50. However, in the original CD
release of Greatest Hits Volume I and II, the
song runs 3:35, which is an early fade of the LP
version. In another thread, Abagon listed the length of
the 45 version of "Tell Her About It" as 3:47 (the
printed time is 3:35). Has anybody checked if the promo
and commercial 45s of "Tell Her About It" contain the
3:35 edit from the Greatest Hits Volume I and II
CD (the original 1985 release, not the 1998 remaster
which contains the album version running 3:50)?

I was always under the impression that the LP/45 version of "Tell Her About It" were the same?

They are Paul. Running time of the 45/LP version from An Innocent Man original release is 3:51.

So, there is no official shorter promo version?

Not that I am aware of Paul. The 3:35 on Greatest Hits Vol 1 and 2 Columbia 40121 is not the LP or 45 version and not a promo version, its 14 seconds shorter. Otherwise the actual 45 running time is 3:47.

Just a guess, but the early fade to match the listed
time on the 45 is probably what happened on the
compilation LP and CD.
