some notes regarding this song

the 45 runs 3:55 and is just an early fade of the 4:08 full cd version.

the entry in the db is incorrect.....the cd "alf" contains the 4:08 version and NOT a 3:57 version

also

there should be an addition to the db because there is another cd that contains the song

the cd "the essential alison moyet" issued in 2003 on columbia 504638 should be added to the db which contains the 4:08 full cd version

The cd "Essential" is listed as an import cd on every web site that I checked and that is why it is not listed in the database.

My copy of "Alf" states on the cd jacket that "Invisible" runs (4:01) and it runs (3:57). The matrix number is 1A CK39956 03. Are you sure your copy of "Alf" is not an import also Ed?

to help out edisonlite, i've include what i've found out about the song "invisible" by alison moyet......the 45 starts the fade a little earlier than the full cd/lp version.....the fade starts at 3:41 and ends at 3:54......while the full cd version runs to 3:57....also...all the import cds with this song on it run about 0:12 longer than the 45 version......while the cd version from "alf" runs about 0:03 longer than the 45.....btw...the 45's face states the run time as 3:56, which is wrong...

I noticed that this song is on the Alison Moyet Singles CD and it is not listed in the database.

Does anyone know if this contains the correct 45 version?

My copy of "Singles" dated 1995 on Columbia (UK) 4806632 contains the 4:08 version (actual audio times to 4:05).
Hope that helps.

Thanks you,   Was this only available as an import? I thought this was also a domestic release?

The original vinyl LP "ALF"(Columbia BFC 39956. US pressing) contains the (3:57) length with the printed time "4:01" on the record label. It is the same as the album CD's info on the database.

Does anyone know if the extended 12" version of "Invisible" has showed up on import CD? I recently stumbled across a UK 12" single of this in a local record/CD store and bought it. I've done a disc dub but haven't cleaned it, and was hoping it's on some import CD. (Mark, do you know anything about this?)

one because it was a favorite 45 of mine.

Fetta is correct on both counts: Singles was indeed issued here in the U.S., and yes, to this day, it is still missing from the on-line database - and alas, "Invisible" has appeared on only ONE other U.S. CD to date...

While going through all of the songs from 1985 in the db last week, I happened to notice that two "Best of..."/"Greatest Hits"-type collections were missing from the listings, and interestingly, both are by highly-regarded female singers from the U.K., and in another parallel, both ended up being essentially "one-hit wonders" here in the U.S.: Alison Moyet and Kate Bush...

In fact, Alison Moyet's Singles - which includes her lone U.S. top 40 hit, "Invisible" (track 7) - has actually been released TWICE here in the U.S., and remains in print today! The CD initially came out in 1995, on Columbia CK 67278. Page for this original on Discogs, complete w/ photos: ALISON MOYET - "Singles" (original U.S. CD) It's true that foreign pressings of Singles are much more common, simply because Moyet was more popular/successful in those other countries. However, I did manage to find two used copies of the original currently listed on eBay, and they're most definitely U.S. pressings, as seen in both seller's photos. First copy: ALISON MOYET - "Singles" (original U.S. CD) Second copy (while cheaper, note it clearly has a large vertical crease running down the middle of the back insert): ALISON MOYET - "Singles" (original U.S. CD) These originals on Columbia 67278 are now out-of-print...

In 2008, Singles was re-issued here in the U.S. on Sony BMG Music Entertainment Custom Marketing Group 725003, and this is the version that remains in print today. Brand new copies of this current version on Amazon (based on the pre-filled info): ALISON MOYET - "Singles" (re-issue U.S. CD) Brand new copies from one U.S. seller on eBay (again, based on the pre-filled info): ALISON MOYET - "Singles" (re-issue U.S. CD)
