This thread is not about the 1977 recording or 45/45 promo, but about the 1994 recording that was live off the Hell Freezes Over mindblowing performances.
I remember a radio edit of this fantastic recording because the over 7 minutes version was not played. I can't recall what the edit points are but does anyone have this promo or remember how to recreate that edit?
I'm guessing the first 1:20 is cut and most of the last 2 minutes is as well. Just not sure. Cant find a listing on discogs either. Any help much appreciated.

Update: Aaron helped me find a 1995 Europe promo that appears to have the 4:40 radio edit I speak of.

I spent 25.00 last night and ordered a promo CD single with
the labeled edit last night. Since it's coming from Europe,
I don't know when it will arrive but hopefully soon.

There doesn't seem to be a US promo of it, so I'm curious
as to how stations here in the US played it if it was
only available on an overseas promo.

I'm curious to hear that edit version.
John when you receive that copy, could you tell us the
editing points and it is possible to recreate it from the
version released on the album "Hell Freezes Over", thanks

Dan,
The radio stations of that time period that did play it had to get the edit from somewhere, most likely the label. It was also a strict airplay hit which at the time was never going to chart.
In NY they did the same thing with the Nirvana unplugged concert and All Apologies and Man Who Sold The World and hyped it up for the album when no singles were issues if I recall for either track. No radio station in the mid- 90s would play a 7 minute plus track, so an edit had to be created.
I like to think this is a rare case of something that got airplay that didn't appear on a TM Century or promo US disc because it was a live concert cut. Aaron indicated he never even heard it on his radio back then, so its clear John and I remember hearing it but others might not have.

The TM Studios Music Database lists the full LP version on
a GoldDisc and HitDisc with a 2:12 intro!

I remember hearing this live version on AC radio quite a
bit. I actually completely forgot about it getting airplay
until I saw this topic. I could be wrong, but I don't
remember hearing an edit. I remember the intro being very
long.

I've only heard the full live version on the airwaves. The
local variety station still has it in rotation with full
intro in tact.

Received the Geffen Records GED21973 CD single I ordered in
the mail today. Cut 1, the Edit, is indeed edited in some
way. The run time is 4:38.

Note that the "Edit" version cannot be re-created from the
LP version, as the audience applause before the first verse
is mixed over a different section due to the edit.

The edit I heard in 1994 had the longer intro. That's about the only real difference back then the rest of the edit on my promo seems to match what I remember.
Radio stations tweak things all the time based on their needs, how is this edit any different?

Never heard this on air except in the full unedited
version. AC formats loved it.
