The Martin Denny comp titled, "The Best Of Martin Denny"
issued in 1998 on EMI-Capitol Special Markets – 72438-
19887-2-5, part of their 10 Best Series.
In the database, this and couple other releases state, "
(neither the 45 nor LP version)."
The reason maybe stated in the Discogs entry for this
release where user "junglero" posted on Jan 29, 2020. He
said, "My copy of this CD has Les Baxters' version of
"Quiet Village" instead of Martin Denny's. (I don't know
if this was ever corrected). The rest of the CD IS by
Martin Denny as shown."
So maybe this error was used on other comps. Les Baxter
did record Quiet Village for Capitol so maybe the tapes
did get mixed up.

Speaking of Quiet Village: I'm glad they restored and released the original mono version of Martin Denny's first album, "Exotica" which contained "Quiet Village."
...However, I grew up with the stereo version of the LP, and because they are two completely different takes rather than just a remix, I do wish the stereo version had been at least been made available as a bonus disc.
Has anybody seen the stereo version of Exotica Vol. 1 in digital form from the master tapes?

I don't have the Ten Best Series: The Best Of Martin
Denny CD, but I do have one of the "neither the 45
nor LP version" discs, Instrumental Gems Of The
Fifties (Collectors Choice). I have compared this
version with the Les Baxter version from the Baxter's
Best CD, and they are completely different
recordings, although the run times are almost identical.
I note that the Ten Best Series: The Best Of Martin
Denny CD is the only one listed in the database with
the 3:16-3:17 version in stereo. The liner notes of the
Baxter's Best CD state that Baxter recorded the
song (which he wrote) on May 17, 1951, so that version
would not exist in stereo.

The Stereo version of "Quiet Village" is a complete re-
recording made later on.
