Poor Stevie got no traction on the USA charts with this M.A.D.D. anthem from The Woman In Red soundtrack.
The 7" singles in Discogs claim the single version runs 4:36.
I remember the single version (yes my local station played it briefly) being a simple edit of the Lady In Red soundtrack, removing 2 minutes and 10 seconds between 4:18 and 6:28.
However, my resulting file runs 4:21 - 4:22 depending on how close you trim the silence.
Does anybody have the 7" who can check the actual length? Also does it end cold or does it fade? Instead of editing, you could just fade after the "build-up" at 4:18 and easily get a file that runs 4:36.
I look forward to your findings!

Gene, I remember a 12" being released, but the first time I saw this on a 7" single was on the Motown
Yesteryear Series Y-685 F. This reissue entered our store on 8/17/88. So here goes... the label states
4:35, but I time it out at 4:01. It ends with the traffic stop sound effects and fades. -Bill.

So after a few hours, I take out the 'Woman In Red' soundtrack CD and determine that you cannot make the
single from the CD. It has all sorts of sound effects added in that don't show up on the CD. I might have
misled readers by describing the 'Motown Yesteryear Series' as a 'Reissue', because a 'Reissue' implies that
it was out before as a regular 'Issue', which I don't believe it was. -Bill.

It's strange; I know my local top 40 station spun it a few times and I don't think they would have played the full 12" version... yet Discogs doesn't show an edit released in the United States.
It WAS, however, released in the 7" edit format just about everywhere else, including Canada.
Very weird... and now I wonder if the single version every made it to digital from tape...
Thanks for checking into all this for me, Bill!!
