I just don't understand why there'd be not one, but two promo CDs issued and most people weren't hearing any of the tracks from each one - unless most radio stations had their hands on import CDs that were released weeks, if not months, prior.

I'll go with the Original Remix Radio Edit, since it has a lot of what you guys recall hearing on the radio. The LP version is quite long, and I can imagine creating the edits from memory wouldn't be an easy task, nor would it be 100% that they're all correct.

I think it would often end on the 'dance, dance, dance, dance' chant, which could mean they just ducked out at 3:50.

On the European CD single, there's a "Radio Edit" by Los Angeles-based engineer Josh Schneider, and it cuts down the album version to about 3:31 and ends with the chant, but cutting off the last 'dance'. I don't know if this edit was circulated in the U.S. or if import CDs were ever serviced to radio as promos, though.

It may have been an in-house edit.

I myself only remember hearing the LP version back in 1991, but I'm a small sample size and I was plugged into Minneapolis radio at the time (WLOL until they signed off in Feb 1991, then KDWB - those are the only two that would have played the song at the time).

WFHN on the fringe in New Bedford.

Around 1998-2000 WFHN was still a heavy recurrent station, spinning cuts from the prior 10 years. Around that time I heard them spin the "Original Remix Radio Edit", and something jumped at me which felt very strange -- that intro. It just sounded wrong, it really changed the feeling of which I heard a number of times on the other two stations.

I heard the Video Edit more than once on WWKX between 1995-1997 and quite possibly on WPRO-FM as well. Wish I kept in contact with those folks, I'd ask them to pull the CD.

Hope this helps.

Edited by prisdeej - 31 December 2025 at 1:41am
