Dave, if my memory serves, at
around the time of "All My Life", many of the labels started this practice,
especially for "2nd/3rd different-serviced promo CD singles" for a song.
But without the "promo stock #s" associated with these discs since their
inception, it certainly makes it much harder for "geeks like us" :)   to
document/track down these specific promo items. It made tons of sense
from the label's point-of-view, however. These "officially released by the
label, CD-Rs" were often (though not always) digital clones, far
quicker/cheaper for them to produce, 98%+ the same quality as
"standard, factory-made" promos, in the short-term. This was also right
around the time when the majority of CHR radio had switched over to
playing music on-air from their station computer's music database, as
opposed to loading/playing the actual promo CD singles on-air, as had
been the norm since around 1989. So these CD-Rs often had to "hold up"
just long enough for stations to do a "one time load-in" to their system.
Longer-term durability on these? Definitely not as good, but I bet that was
also viewed as a good thing by the labels. Hell, if these CD-Rs "self-
destructed" in a couple of years, even better, right? The labels had long
ago moved on to other projects. Hope this helps, kind sir!

That's correct, Dave. The Radio Edit on the CD-R does not have the "baby, baby, baby..." vocals on the intro. Other than that, I believe the rest of the track does match up.

Thanks, Ed. It seems here that MCA sent 2 other promo CDs to radio without a catalog
number.   You have one with just the "Wedding Mix", and mainrhythm has the other one
which is the 2 track Radio Edit & Piano Intro.   

Please note the Radio Edit on mainrhythm's promo is NOT the same Radio Edit on the 4
track promo MCA5P-90100, which Aaron listed previously.

i have a promo cd single for the song "all my life" by k-
ci & jo jo with NO catalog number issued by MCA with only
one track titled "wedding mix" and runs 5:16....the promo
cd single is a factory silver backed cd, so it's
legit......it starts with piano intro for the first 0:22
of the song.....then at the 0:22 mark he states something
inaudible.....then at the 0:30 he sings "i would never
find another lover..."....if anyone needs a copy of this
version for their review just drop me an
email.....edtop40@yahoo.com.........i also have the
commercial cd single issued as mca 55420 with a non
described version as track one with a listed run time of
5:31 but only runs 5:30.......it starts with a harp or
some string instrument for the first 0:36 of the song,
then they start singing "baby, baby, baby..." at the 0:36
mark of the song......hope this helps.....
