What I always heard was the album version with the "Step inside..." intro cut off to where the song just began with the music. When I got the full album and heard the "Step Inside" intro, I assumed the version I'd been hearing up to that point must have been the single version. I didn't realize the stations must have just been cuing past the spoken intro.

I was always used to hearing the LP version and the video/12" version. Yes, it's true that the 45 is an edit of the 12" version; however, it's a horrible edit!

For those wondering, there's only one edit, which cuts from 0:03 to 0:31. It's the first line "love is like a bomb" with a very sloppy edit right before the guitar starts and ending right where the music would kick in on the LP version. Whoever did the editing really butchered it!
