Is there officially a difference between the 45 and LP
versions? On ITunes, there is a version #2 listed on the Atlantic compilation
LP/CD Right On! Vol. 5. I was curious as to the origin of this
version.

Promo 45 "short version" has a listed and actual time of (3:00), and is simply an early fade. This hit #1 in my area - the station did a killer "in-house" short v - just one cut, attaching the great ending of the (5:13) version at around (2:30) into the song. The first record rep I ever knew told me, around that time, that Hijack's Top 40 success caught Atlantic by surprise - and the lack of time and effort given to prepare a quality "Hijack" short version certainly seemed to reflect that. What they did was simply awful, compared to that "in-house."

Outstanding stuff, Jim... Keep the DJ edit information coming!
