All current db CDs include either the 45 or LP version of this song.

Here are the contents of my "Together Forever" stock 12" single (RCA 8320-
1-RD):

Side A:
1-Lover's Leap Extended Remix (listed 7:00)
2-Lover's Leap Remix (listed 3:20)

Side B:
1-House Of Love Mix (listed 6:50)

I may have answered my own question - I did find my "Strong Strong
Man" 45, and as far as I can tell, it's identical to the LP mix. There may be
some subtle mixing differences, but nothing like the 45/LP differences on
"Together Forever".

I've also located the 45 version of "Together Forever" via Napster download on RCA's Dance Vault Mixes: Together Forever/I'll Never Set You Free. Track 1 is labeled as the 7" version, Track 3 is the Lover's Leap Remix.

To my ears, the 7" and Lover's Leap sound the same, but definitely different than the LP version.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I just heard the vinyl LP again today, and there are other subtle differences that caught me. For example, the synthy bells disappear in some parts of the intro.

I hate that too! So many times the mix you hear on the radio is better than the one on the album and you have to seek it out too. Billy Joel's "Keeping the Faith" is another example - but at least you could buy it. I heard a version of Hall & Oates "Your Imagination" on the radio in 1982 which wasn't on the LP or 45. It was a more uptempo "hotter" version with greater instrumentation. but don't forget elcoleccionista that many CDs have blank space at the end. it likely fades at 3:24 as Pat indicates. I just popped in both CD's on the DVD player to double check for you, and this is what it displays (I used remaining track time mode).

"Whenever You Need Somebody" album version: 3:29

45 version from european "Greatest Hits" CD: 3:21

hey there elcoleccionista!

if the 45 is 8 seconds shorter than the LP, then what are the correct times for both? The database has similar timings for them both, and my Pop Annual shows the 45 as 3:22.

btw, I remember this on the radio in '88, then when I got it on a CD, I thought it didn't sound as good. Now I know why (it was the LP version)!

The 45 version's structure is the same as the album version, although it does fade 8 seconds earlier.

It was named "Lover's Leap Remix", commissioned to Pete Hammond for PWL.

It can also be found as "Lover's Leap Edit" or "Lover's Leap 7" Remix" on some of his compilation CD's.

A subtle remix but in my opinion improves the dance feel of the song. I agree, it is MUCH hotter!
