I've been looking for a good-sounding 45 version for a long time, as my needle drop was sub par.

I can't speak to the radio promo, but the LP version found on the Chess soundtrack has a somewhat lengthy orchestral intro. I never heard this promo version on the radio in 1985. It has a long instrumental running 39 seconds.

There is a 4:08 commercial 45 version. This is the version I heard back then.

There is a 5:01 LP version. Never head this either and has a different 1 min 47 second intro compared to the promo version.

There is a 5:42 12'' Mix (Extended version) which I never heard either and contains different vocal elements at 2:53-4:07 not on any other version.

There is a 3:15 European version that is just simply an edit of the 3:56 without the instrumental in the front.

So did anyone else hear the 3:56 promo version on the radio or was the 4:08 commercial version was the "hit" version back then that got most of the airplay?

Edited by PopArchivist
