my commercial 45 for the everly brothers song 'don't blame
me' issued as warner 5501 (+2) lists a run time on the
label as 2:16 but actually runs 2:21 and is an edit of the
full length 3:23 lp version......this 45 run time info s/b

David: In the U.S., for a few months during 1961, WB put out 2-song-on-each-side EPs as the "official 45 release." "Don't Blame Me" (and 3 other songs) was on one of these. I have one. It is significantly shorter than all other appearances. I believe WB was a bit concerned about going past a certain length of total audio on each side, and didn't want to go too "micro-grooved" on the record. More skip-prone. My guess: were it not for this short-lived experiment, the longer version MIGHT have appeared on the conventional 45.
