    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://top40musiconcd.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=745">LunarLaugh</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1964<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 06&nbsp;February&nbsp;2026 at 12:17am<br /><br />The database lists "Like To Get To Know You" on Spanky's Greatest Hit(s) as the 'DJ single version", but this version also appears on Mercury/UMe's 20th Century Masters: The Best of Spanky and Our Gang CD from 2005. <br /><br />The only big difference other than 20th Century Masters running marginally faster and having more heavy-handed EQ than Greatest Hit(s) is that 20th Century Masters is the WELCOME absence of the annoying noise gate used on Greatest Hit(s). That old CD sounds like it is being played through one of those BBE Sonic Maximizers/noise suppersor units. Ellen Fitton's tenure at Universal Mastering East was hit or miss but 20th Century Masters is one of her more pleasant-sounding jobs, produced by the great Bill Levenson. <br /><br />But in the database, 20th Century Masters lists "Like To Get To Know You" as <em>neither the single nor LP version</em>. The guitar comes in at roughly (2:40) in, so <br />taking the first 27 seconds away lines it up as starting at around (2:13).<br /><br />Crazier edits have happened, so I wouldn't rule out that the crossfade could be what's on the promo.  Personally, I have my doubts.]]>
