The actual commercial 45 run time of M/A/R/R/S' "Pump Up the Volume" is 4:05. (Timing info compliments of abagon. The printed record label time is 4:06.) It's a fascinating side-by-side comparison, if you've never heard it. The backing track and instrumentation are the same, but many of the samples are different.

For starters, the female "Yo all you home boys out in the bronx this one's for you" that begins the US version is now a Wolfman Jack saying "That's right this has got to be the greatest record of the year" on the UK version.

The Eric B and Rakim sample "pump up the volume" is the same in both, as is "brothers and sisters".

"Do it" is rerecorded for either the US or UK version - not sure which one. Same with "yeah yeah". There's a James Brown "watch me" in the UK version.
