If my memory serves, I first became aware of that re-recorded version of "The Rockford Files" on a Polydor and/or Collectables re-issue 45 that included Johnny Bristol's "Hang On In There Baby" on the other side, FYI.

The Harmonica intro version is the original MGM 45 single
version. The Guitar introduction was the re-record for
Elektra Records in 1982. That Elektra EP is still very
worth owning and is one of the best sounding records I have

Mike Post re-recorded "The Rockford Files" for his 1982 Elektra LP Television Theme Songs. The 1975 hit version had been on MGM. I've never heard this song on 45 (or anywhere else, frankly), but I'm hearing two distinct recordings here, and I'm curious which is the hit version:

1 - The version on the "Class Reunion 1975" disc, which starts with a harmonica on the lead.

2 - The version that I have on the Mike Post "Television Theme Songs" EP. This replaces the harmonica with guitar.
