There were two different commercial 12" vinyl single releases for Janet Jackson's "Nasty"... The first was an "Extended" version with an actual run time of 6:05, not 6:00 as stated on the record label. The second consisted of the "Cool Summer Mix Part I" on the A-side with an actual run time of 7:56 (printed time: 7:57) and the "Cool Summer Mix Part II" on the B-side running 10:08 (printed time: 10:09).

Fortunately, all three versions appear on one domestic CD release. And because there were two separate commercial 12" single releases, I might in this instance respectfully suggest updating the associated database comments, where appropriate, as follows:

("Extended" 12" single version)
("Cool Summer Mix Part I" 12" single version)
("Cool Summer Mix Part II")

High Life - Bärenstark!. Janet Jackson sounds very
nice on this CD. I just checked Discogs and you can get a

Icon shares the same mastering as Number Ones which is actually in most cases the Design of A Decade masters EQ'ed and turned up WAY too loud.

Of the three, Design is the clear winner for sound quality, and Number Ones for the scope of content, though the entire Number Ones release was haphazard at best.

Thank you Underground Dub for your must valuable info (but very disappointing); So I have started to try to pick up the audit versions for the 45's edit on other sources than 'Design..'. But this will probably cost me my whole music budget both june and july (and perhaps more)...

All of the edits on both the US and international releases of Design Of A Decade were newly created in 1995 for that release.

Even though tracks like "Love Will Never Do (Without You)" run the same length and have approximately the same edit points as the original single releases, they are unfortunately not the exact original masters.

The international edition features a higher number of shorter edits (many based on the original single edits) to accommodate two additional songs not found on the US release ("Whoops Now" and "The Best Things In Life Are Free").
