You're exactly right. I just found a copy of this song from the Bernie Taupin promo on my hard drive (didn't know I had it), and it matches the version you heard on Aspen FM. query, I want to tell you that the home-edited version I
was looking for is included on the CD "Elton John - The
Songs of Elton John - Bernie Taupin 1974-1993" (promo),
which Pat (ptgraphics) very kindly sent me. Thanks for

I think the version I'm looking for was made by TM Century,
with a long intro and a cut from 3:26 to 4:49, cutting out
the entire instrumental part.

When Brian and I worked on compiling Elton's singles, I seem to recall him also saying the US 45 version cannot be edited from the LP (confimed above by Ron). I believe this is because both the LP and 45 versions were edited down from a longer take.
