I was a mere lad of "1" at the time these two artists, Burt Kaempfert and Louis Prima
had singles released that year. I have yet to consult the database, (Perhaps I actually should.)

I only mentioned this because I ran across an old imported CD of instrumentals in 1961 which had both versions at the top of the track list. Bert and Louis, respectively.

I had to back and forth these a couple times to actually decide they were not the same recording! Over the years, I've heard this song a zillion times and never
knew they could have been interchanged so easily.

I too immediately thought of the 3 that Eric mentioned above and i couldn't think of any others that charted that well for that time...went blank.

I passed along the info to him he'll be thrilled.

MM

"Wheels" was the #3 song.

I'm assuming it was the hourly top six countdown that was heard, which features brief snippets of songs number six through two, then the #1 song played in its entirety. My favorite top six comes around for a two-week period every November. XM uses a sonovox voice to announce each of the chart positions. Song #3 from that period in 1961 has Brenda Lee asking, "Am I fool #1 or am I fool #2?" to which the sonovox answers with "number two!"

Edited by Yah Shure

He said he heard an instrumental memory that was around #3 but he wasn't near his read-out to see what the song was...
If anyone has an actual Cash Box or Billboard chart from this time in '61 can you tell me what instrumentals might have been top 10 or top 5?
I appreciate the help, all these Whitburn books, but i have no actual charts in order...
Thanks
