That makes sense. I always thought it was the Even Now original LP version (and I bought that LP the 1st day of release). Short single version is a different mix from the Disco version and the LP version. However, it is closer in feel to the LP version.

Is the short single version an edit of the long disco version (5:43) or an edit (or fade) of the original 4:08 Even Now LP version?

I would not be so sure the 'rare short disco version' on YouTube is from the LP pictured. IMHO it seems more likely that there is a 45 on which this 3:48 version is on the 'Short Version' side instead of the more common 3:58 mix.

And yes, it seems to be unique. Well, it's more like this:
• 0:00–2:12 matches 0:00–2:12 of the 5:43 long/disco version
• 2:12–2:42 is unique, not quite matching any other version
• 2:42–3:48 matches 3:55–5:01 of the long/disco version and is faded out.

Regardless, the rip I have of one of the Manilow Collection CD releases has Copacabana running 3:59.2, but once you trim the silence from the ends it's 3:55.3, and is, as I said, the 3:58 short single version. The cross reference page of Manilow's songs at Barrynet.com (which is to my knowledge very thorough) lists a runtime for this song on the cd i linked in my previous post, at 3:56 - which i believe is two seconds shorter than the 45 version. Said cd was a re-press of an earlier lp/cd where the runtime is 3:58 (according to the same website). I've been searching youtube and found this

Which features the same album cover as both cd's i mentioned above. If you listen closely, this version is slightly different than both the 45 mix and the disco mix - so i was wondering if this was yet another mix.

Update to my recent post: I bought the Varese Sarabande CD ("Foul Play" soundtrack) recently, and it does indeed have the original "Even Now" LP version - a longer version than the single version, but mostly the same mix, and not at all like the disco mix that eventually came to be the version used on Even Now LPs and all Even Now CDs. Ironically, the Intrada label version of the "Foul Play" soundtrack CD just has the single version. Does anyone know which version was on the original Foul Play LP? I wonder if Varese Sarabande or Intrada got it right.

I believe this is the only CD worldwide that has the original "Even Now" LP version.
