FYI: My copy of the CD The Playboy Years is a complete needle drop. The songs play out of order (so they don't match the track listing). Last, but not least, the songs start to play slower and slower as the CD continues (which leads me to believe there must have been an issue with the turntable used to play the album). I must have overlooked this thread when it was created four years ago.

The iTunes tracks do NOT sound like re-recordings to me, but "Fallin' In Love" is mastered from a 45 and at the wrong speed. my commercial 45 for the hamilton, joe frank & reynolds
song "fallin' in love" issued as playboy 6024 states the
run time on the label as 3:13 but actually only runs

Paul, I just confirmed what I had previously remembered about this group's personnel in my new Whitburn "Top Pop Singles 1955-2006" book, which, as always, is in my opinion a "must have" for chart geeks like us. Tommy Reynolds left the group soon after their "Daisy Mae" single in 1972, and was replaced by Alan Dennison. When Playboy issued their 1975 "comeback" LP of sorts, everyone still felt that the band's name recognition came from their big 1971 hit, "Don't Pull Your Love," as "H, JF & R", so they left the old name intact, despite the fact that Dennison had long ago replaced Reynolds. I remember buying their 1976 low-charting 45, "Light Up The World With Sunshine", with the Reynolds "crossed out", and replaced with Dennison on the pic sleeve, trying to finally transition the public, and jive the group name to the three guys currently in the band, but by then the game was pretty much over for them. The difference between the 45 and LP is not due to speed. The 45 has a longer fadeout, with additional repeats of the chorus.
