Sorry!

The Rock 40 I was working at when this song came out played this for weeks in hot rotation! It was a monster hit in Tulsa and I don't know anybody listening to radio at the time who doesn't remember "Kiss Me Deadly."

...and to follow up on my question, it sounds like "made" was likely the version played most on the radio.

This is a song that should have been a Top 5 hit, it was extremely poppy and dancey, and it was one of the many sounds of 1988. It's shocking that it didn't hit the Top 10, while her duet with Ozzy, a song that, whether you like it or not, is not very commercial.

My educated guess is that certain radio stations didn't play it as much, and probably spun it a few times a week, if at all. I would also guess this is the reason why the label had to submit an additional Special Radio Version. Lita's new vocals were clearly pasted onto the original recording.

That's not bad for a fairly hard rock song on a pop station. Here's what the higher 12 songs were the week that it peaked:

1 Together Forever - Rick Astley
2 One More Try - George Michael
3 Foolish Beat - Debbie Gibson
4 Dirty Diana - Michael Jackson
5 Make It Real - Jets
6 The Valley Road - Bruce Hornsby & The Range
7 The Flame - Cheap Trick
8 Circle In The Sand - Belinda Carlisle
9 Everything Your Heart Desires - Hall & Oates
10 Mercedes Boy - Pebbles
11 Alphabet St. - Prince
12 New Sensation - INXS

These lyrics are tame, even by 1988 standards. Probably the main reason the single did not go Top 10, while her duet with Ozzy did go Top 10... one of the worst songs ever recorded.
