There is a new deluxe edition of The Cars' Heartbeat City coming before year's end. Among the bonus tracks, the Dub Version of "Hello Again", used as the B-side of both the original 12" and 7" singles, will make CD for the first time. (The vocal 12" mix will be included as well, of course, but this has made CD a handful of times previously as you likely all know.)

To answer some questions about which Cars singles should
be in the database----I will add "My Best Friends Girl" as
it hit #35 on BB, #39 on RW and #44 on CB. I will delete
"It's All I Can Do" as it charted #41 on BB, #58 on RW and
#40 on CB. As for "Good Times Roll" and "Since You're

I checked the actual sales figures from my record store, and found that 'My Best
Friend's Girl' sold enough copies to warrant a top 20 position. We sold more of that
than, "Tonight She Comes", which was a top 10. I attribute that to buyers already
tiring of the 'Disco Era' music and wanting to get more Rock or Punk, but I could be

Back in the 'early' days, Pat's books and then the on-line database was based on Cashbox. Not so much, Billboard.

Still wondering why "My Best Friend's Girl" isn't in the database when it was a #35 hit when new? And "It's All I Can Do" is in the database despite not quite making the Top 40 (#41)... so why not also "Good Times Roll" and "Since You're Gone" -- two other #41 hits for the Cars?
(They sure had a thing for just barely missing the Top 40!)

Thanks to cmmmbase, I can now confirm that the single
version of "Strap Me In" cannot be made from the LP
version, because of the lack of background strings in the
opening notes of the single version.

Does anybody know if the single version has ever made it to

In" from 1987's "Door To Door"...

Does anybody know if the single version really is shorter
that the LP length of 4:24?

The music video just appears to fade about 10 seconds
