I
confirmed this by sync-ing them together.
But your fold down may not sound as "punchy" as the 45, it
needs some EQ and a bit of peak limiting and you'll get a
match.
MM

As discussed earlier, There are no taps. I also checked a later issue of nuggets,
a 4-CD box set from 1998, (Rhino R2 75466)[Disc 3], and again no taps. So maybe the 2000 issue, a 2-CD set from Rhino, "Nuggets from Nuggets" (Rhino R2 76662),
just maybe? Nope! no taps.

So, I also dug out my long-mothballed Vol. 3 of Dick Clark's All-Time Hits on Original Sound (1990) [OSCD-8894], and yes there are the two taps. Thanks Yah Shure!

I didn't clearly understand the discussion earlier, Was it the mono only 45 version that had these two taps at the intro?

The song has always been a favorite of mine throughout the years, but I honestly never remembered those two taps on any other version I had listened to, ever!

Edit:

I played the whole Dick Clark CD through and found the last track, Canned Heat "Goin' Up The Country" has a major flaw. At least mine does. After the Song plays
through and fades out, the track jumps back to the middle of the song and plays through again. QC was sleeping on this master!

Edited by AdvprosD

Mark, you've been robbed twice! ;)

For the sake of completeness, I also listened to the beginning of my '70s Mainstream 684 reissue 45. No drumsticks there, either; it plays the same stereo version as the Mainstream LP. I can only conclude that no vinyl version released by Mainstream ever included the two drumstick taps.
