That would've
never passed. This song, however, had come and gone before I started
working there, so I'm not familiar with any other changes that may have
been made.

The Vitamin C song wasn't edited for lyrical content as I remember. It
was a version with sound bites of kids talking about graduating 5th
grade, etc. I seem to recall quite a few local stations making their own
versions with local listeners. If memory serves me, I was tasked with
"updating" the song with new audio to freshen it up. They had been
playing the same one for several years at that point. So, I think there's
more than one version.

Avril has even said in interviews that she specifically recorded "clean" versions on purpose for her fans who are younger.

Apparently I was shocked when I heard the clean CD had the lyrics without cursing and the princess line. Not the first time Avril changed lyrics, her 2004 album and Don't Tell Me also has a clean/explicit version to it that you would never know existed if you didn't listen closely.

Also, those kids' mothers
likely had veto power over what those kids listened to,
and the Disney folks knew that and programmed
accordingly.

Not really sure what you mean by "artistic integrity",
but it's a fine line that programmers have to walk at
times in playing the hits and keeping it "family
friendly".
