The first three verses are indeed different...<br /><br /><strong>American Pie Edit:</strong><br /><em>He spent his whole life being too young<br />To live the life that's in his dreams<br />At night he lies awake and he wonders<br />Why can't that be me?</em><br /><br /><strong>Album Version:</strong><br /><em>He spends his nights in California<br />Watching the stars on the big screen<br />And then he lies awake and he wonders<br />Why can't that be me?</em><br /><br />As far as I can tell, the lyrics are the same throughout the rest of the song.  Even so, the "Album Version" obviously cannot be edited to come up with the "American Pie Edit" as I had previously insinuated.<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by Todd Ireland</span>]]>

Was there ever an official commercial single release for the song?  I don't recall ever seeing one.<br /><br />I do have a promo CD single somewhere in my library.  I'll fish it out and report back with the track listing and run times.]]>
