The only good reason I can think of as to why Epic would go through the trouble to edit out eight beats is perhaps the 4:11-4:15 portion of the album version tape source being used contained some damage and therefore the engineer chose to edit it out. For those of you wondering what the "slight edit of both the 45 and the LP" is, which is the 4:52 version on the Epic Greatest Hits CD, it seems to cut out 8 beats from 4:11 to 4:15 of the album version and fade a little early.

The edit is on the snare at 4:11.1 on the Epic CD.

An edit for 8 beats??
